There is still no sign of Luna. Plenty of sightings by the guys at Prescot Manor Farm.. but none by us, and even though we go there daily, call, rattle tins etc.. still nothing.
There has been one bonus though.. the glass has fallen out of the fire door for the last time! Over the last few weeks, due to two of the lugs holding the brackets in that hold the glass to the door shearing off over time (don’t believe they were ever there!) the glass has come loose – letting smoke into the boat.
Sean has a workshop at the farm we have been searching for Luna – within which he builds and repairs multi-fuel burners – and was one of the people who has seen her.
He said that he could fix and repair the door, replace the lugs and nuts holding the glass in, replace all the rope seals and re-secure the glass. 3 hours and a bit of £ later.. what a fine job it was. The door is now absolutely spot on with 4 new studs drilled and tapped into the cast iron door and when closed – not a puff of smoke anymore !
I now just need to clean the rest of it.. the refurbed door is now putting the rest of the fire to shame!
Well – we need to get some shopping in – so were moving to Banbury for the night. Back to the marina – just to use the entrance to turn the boat round – down several locks and into Banbury.
We were hoping to moor near the bridge like we have in the past – but that stretch was full – so one more lock to do and see if there is room below it. There is only space really for one boat – and it was clear – so this will do us for tonight.
Time to go out shopping (whilst I get on with more work) and get some wood in as we’ve pretty much used up all the given wood at Cropredy..
Were going back to Cropredy tomorrow..but for tonight it’s our first night away from where Luna was lost – knowing out luck – tonight is probably the night she decides to come back to the boat when were not actually there!
