Braunston to Napton Adkins Lock

by Keith August 15, 2020 No Comments

After a visit to The Boathouse last night (can’t come to Braunston and not go after all!) and an entertaining afternoon, evening and morning – it’s time to get moving. First things first though, time for a pump out before we head down the Oxford, as there are not many places where we can get one until Cropredy, so it’s onto Braunston marina. We can turn there as we pull back out, so not a major re-route needed to do this.

Seems a shame that this one is rotting away..  hopefully someone is trying to resurrect it!

And I’m sure that if Anna had this as a permanent mooring.. there would be a lot more herbs and plants on that very empty lawn!

It was a very reasonable climb up the Napton Flight..   we got above lock 14 and it was starting to get a bit dark as it was pushing close to 6pm.

It was a good job too..  I had read the sign on the lock but totally ignored it.. the Marston Doles locks are only open between 10am and 4pm..  and was already locked and shut, and with this being the only mooring between here and there that has space (as I’m sure the next one close to the closed lock will be full), that could have been a bit troublesome!  But anyway, were here, and tomorrow we will see.

( Back dated post, so information is limited because, TBH, I cant remember! )
