Kintbury 48hr Mooring (Water Point!) to Enborne Wier Mooring (Between Lock #81 and #82)

by Keith August 15, 2021 No Comments

Well that was a rude awakening!     One couple on a boat – who ended up moving further down the mooring spot and NOT needing water – knocking on every window they could find with “You’re moored on a water point!” through the window..    and another lady on a boat who managed to get close enough to use the tap – yes, the boat was at an angle across the stern – but that I don’t object to – we were on the water point after all!   It’s the other busy-bodies that were simply stating a fact for stating a fact and who had no intention of using the tap I object to..

If anyone had reason to knock to wake us up.. it was the lady on the boat – and would have been perfectly justified to do so.. but decided not to.

As it was, we were getting ready to move off anyway..  so lets get out of here and head back towards  Newbury.   Were going to take it slow, and stop up in a few places though – and not get to Newbury today or tomorrow, as I got one of those emails from CRT stating “You haven’t moved in 14 days”..  The reply to that went along the lines of “Of course not.. lock 104 is broken.. once it’s fixed, we will move on when we can move on!” or words to that effect anyway!

So its up to the winding hole..  or not as I found out..  only just seen the sign that says “private.. no winding”..  ah well..  already round now..  At least that’s 3 things for today.. the rest of the day should be good now!

Considering the number of times we have done this run – not noticed this pillbox before..

There have been a few boats moving the other way today..  one of which I noticed yesterday was on a mooring spot I want to try out..  so that’s what I’m heading for!

And..  a few locks down..  yes, it’s empty.   We haven’t stopped here before, as there is just enough room for one boat..   nice and deep (for a change on this canal!) and there are posts etc that you can wrap ropes round..   so were pulling in.

This will do us and the cats for a few days!
