Whitchurch Lock to Goring Lock

by Keith October 22, 2019 No Comments

CAT! CAT! CAT!    “Loony-toon” escaped..  twice.. whilst we were getting ready to get moving as the boards have not changed yet – but were expecting them too..  Chances are there still red simply because the lockie is not on duty yet..

And yes..   the boards are now yellow..  and Luna is securely locked in the bedroom (along with the other four).. so time to get moving.

Not sure if anyone has let them know their boat is in trouble.. as with that bad weather a few weeks ago.. looks like this tree (or part thereof) has come down in the wind and landed right on the bow of this boat..  I wonder why I don’t like mooring under trees..

Well.. the sun is out..  the water flow is reasonable – but not too bad, and were making good time. Just an hour or so to move today..

And were here at Goring.  There is plenty of space (unlike the last time we were here when it was full in the middle of summer – yes.. I know.. I haven’t done that post yet.. its one of the back-logged entries I still have to catch up on) – the lockie is not on duty – so no one to speak to to find out the costs to stay here for a few days.. so its another point to go on the “play it by ear” list!

Hopefully we will be here for a couple of days (the first 24hr’s are free, with £5 per night thereafter) so were paying to stay through Thursday night and move on on Friday and the weekend to get onto the Oxford canal for Monday.
