Top of Hillmorton Locks to Dunchurch Pools Marina

by Keith June 22, 2020 No Comments

Time to get going again..  and another nice day for cruising.

Past bridge 73 – where soon after we were first on the boat it took me ages to get moored up whilst the pub was packed – much to their amusement – but no such issues today, the pubs still shut and there is plenty of mooring space.

Round the corner and past Hillmorton Wharf Marina

We did pull into Barby moorings to get a pump-out, but there was a boat on the services dock..  so after performing a 3 point turn within the marina itself, it was back out again without even stepping off the boat!

We got to just outside Dunchurch Pools marina and I pulled in for a bit of lunch and to check out what the marina was like. Yes its a nice day, but there is a bit of a side-wind do deal with, and with an unfamiliar marina layout – I wanted to check first.

Lunch was done and its time to go for it.  Pulled out and asked that Celeste check on the cats to make sure they are all still on board..  and the answer I got was an unwelcome one!  Tabitha is no longer on board!

So – we got the pump out done, swapped over the used gas bottle for a full one – yes, with me seriously loosing it as we were not sure where on the journey she escaped..  We figured that it must be just outside the marina – as with it being a hot day, we left the windows out – and she must have got out through the open window whilst we were stopped.

So back out and back the way we came – pulled into where we stopped for lunch and there she was running in and out of the hedgerow refusing to come back – obviously objecting to being stuck down below during this heat!.

Well – were here now, we know where she is so were staying for the night and letting the other 3 cats out.  Hopefully, she will come back in tomorrow morning when we need to get moving again!
