Staying in Southall for a little while..

by Keith May 5, 2018 1 Comment

Set off early today to get to the marina, get everything done there, and get to Wolf Bridge (203) for mid-day – so Anna can collect the car for her bank holiday away with Lori..

Got to the marina..  went in – realised that the services berth was outside on the main canal – so a few manoeuvres later to turn the boat in a populated marina and back out again.. They were still not open by the time we got to the services berth, so wait we had to do..

Filled up with Diesel, emptied the toilet tank and put as much water in as we could before we had to set off without being late for the car collection..

Arrived at Wolf Bridge with 20 minutes to spare..

There’s no overhanging trees here, so with the sun out.. lots of electricity to be had.. and armco to chain up to – if it wasn’t for the graffiti covered walls, this would be a good location!

Suns out.. panels washed.. and pulling in a good charge..  now that the batteries are full the Amps are dropping..  it was running at 35A when we got here..

Were going to be here for a few days, at least until Anna comes back from the bank holiday away..  and then its onto the Thames..  I have next week off – so it could be on the Tuesday, but with 12 locks between us and the Thames.. more likely Wednesday (whilst the tides are still favourable for a run to Teddington Lock – according to the tables.. low tide is at mid-day on Tuesday, and high tide at 8pm (1/2 hour later on Wed)..  so we should be able to get the run to the non-tidal stretch done, with the water flow in our favour, and hopefully Richmond Weir Lock will be open and we can sail straight through – we will see)

May not be staying here long.. someone decided to feed our cats for us – found an open tin of tuna on the roof..

Whilst a nice thing to do – it does mean that either A) Someone spiked it B) Someone is befriending the cats to steal them.. either way.. keeping a close eye out and we may move sooner rather than later..
