Thrupp to Pinsey Bridge (via the Cherwell on Red)

by Keith March 18, 2018 No Comments

Well.. thats the cherwell stretch upstream from Shipton weir lock done..

Boards all red again and the snow had not started to melt yet..  so it was a choice to do this now.. before the snow does melt and the amount of water going into the Cherwell increases more than it is now…. upstream is easier than downstream so we chanced it and went carefully.

We were against the flow all the way and its easier to stop and manoeuvre if needed.. and yes.. very flooded (a lot more than it was a week ago) so stayed right in the middle of the channel.. the flow wasn’t too bad.. it was the side winds and the amount of water this time..

On route to Banbury.. should be there for Tuesday.
