It has been an interesting 12 days here.. Friends have come down and paid us a visit, which was a really good day 😉
The fair at Barton Le Clay last weekend was a success – even though National Rail did their best to make it as difficult as possible for us to get to the car from the boat that morning!
It was a 3 mile walk to the next bridge and back up again to get the car – which Anna and the kids only had to do half thankfully, but we struck lucky after getting back, the level crossing warning lights were operational, and the worker who was babysitting it stated that as the lights are working, chances are you can get safely across – but it would be at your own risk.. And to avoid Anna having another 1.5mile walk after a full day at the fair – we used the level crossing..
Next up it’s an online fair – Libran Lights Fayre so no need to have a car for this one – just be near to a post office!
And were 12 days on from getting here, the car has gone back and we have managed to stretch the water supply, which is a bit of a record for us! There is a massive washing pile, but that we can soon work through once moving! But it is now time to move on from Kidlington and head towards Banbury.
Just up from Kidlington.. not sure what happened to this one, but it’s moored there.. or at least what’s left of it is!
Once into Thrupp.. time to pull onto the water point, empty the toilet tank, fill the water tank and get rid of the rubbish we have accumulated over the last “almost” two weeks of not moving..
It’s getting close to “meeting time” for me, so were getting the Cherwell stretch between Shipton Weir Lock and Bakers Lock done.. there is a stretch just before Bakers which is still on the river, but were OK to moor here for a while whilst I get this meeting done – as long as there is a signal of course!
With that done, were off again, Pigeons Lock, Northbrook Lock.. and that’s enough for today.
This is a quiet spot, Anna has a live tonight, so were staying out in the “sticks” so we can run the engine late and as we have a “reasonable” signal.. we should be good to move on again tomorrow.
