Weedon Bridge to Braunston

by Keith August 14, 2020 No Comments

Were hoping to get a gap in Braunston today – which we will need some luck for..  as a spot in Braunston, on an August summers day will be difficult to find..

It’s been a nice few days rest here, the trees that don’t overhang the boat and block the solar panels, do overhang the towpath – so a lot of time has been had sitting on the bank  in the shade!

Still like this little spot.. but I’m unsure if that boat goes far, certainly not under any bridges unless the wheel house and the smoke stack fold down..

And..  a quick shot (before I take avoiding action) of what its like having a tall active garden on the roof.. and trees that insist on trying to take it off there!

Dodging yet more trees.

Time for yet another lock..

And stop dodging the camera you..

And we seem to have a little winged hitch-hiker, taking a break for a little while..

Past the Braunston pumping station..

And on into Braunston.  Theres not a lot of space..  and as were cruising past the boathouse, still no room for us..   however.. 1 space, opposite the water point, right on the corner.

As were heading back down the oxford, and we would be going past the junction to moor..  time to do a quick about face and reverse to the mooring by going forward through the first arch, then reverse out of the second one..

It was a very interesting rest of the day..    if memory serves..  3 boats managed to side swipe the one infront of us.. and one came close to bouncing off us too..  most of them hire boats, and most due to boats going each way, or trying to manouver to get onto the water point.

Taking of boats at the water point..  this one is good to see later on that day.. as its full-on wheelchair access, lift-n-all to get from the rear deck to the cabin, regardless of which side you moor up..  and a wheel or the standard tiller arm to steer with, so you can drive whilst still in the chair.. awesome!
