Another bank holiday.. another day of moving 😉 Time to get a little further towards Wales.. we won’t be crossing the border today though.. possibly Wednesday.. as the way the canal routes (with some of it being the border) – its almost like it’s trying to avoid crossing over from England!
Managed to get through the last lift bridge of Wrenbury, after stopping traffic for what seemed like an age.. and another boat coming the other way.. so a few upset drivers..
On through Marbury Lock..
Passing several work boats where they are putting in new armcoe on the offsite.. with the canals version of a tug boat..
Time to stop for some lunch.. For a Bank Holiday – there is not a lot of boats moving.. and no sign (yet) of the torrential rain the weatherman promised.. but there is sun.. peace and quiet.. birds in the trees.. ducks wanting my food.. but not a lot else!
And through to Grindley Brook locks.. 6 of.. 3 normal locks with short pounds.. and a staircase of 3 joined together..
And if you are wondering how a starcase lock works.. where the water from one is used in the other..
Once there done.. it’s onto Whitchurch.. after a quick stop to fill the water tank and water the roof garden..
Through the last lift bridge for a while.. and reverse into the arm I think.. not sure what the turning circle is going to be like.. and to be honest.. reversing the boat isnt that bad to be honest.. through that narrow gap round the bend and past those other moored boats.. backwards.. easy!
