Bridge 4, Oxford Canal to Rugby (North)

by Keith June 11, 2020 No Comments

We’ve been here a few days and it’s time to move on. Were going to pull in at Rugby again for a few days – but first, its a long way to go to get there!

It’s currently a fair day for moving, but the report states there could be rain..  we will see..   and rain in did..  just a little 😉

Now..  I know I hate putting in pins when there are no rings or armco to chain up to..  but seriously..   wrap a rope around the nearest plant and hope it holds..  not exactly what I call a secure mooring..

Moored to a plant ? Secure Huh!

And the banking doesn’t look to secure either!

Under the M6 motorway, and on past the residential moorings at Coombe Fields Farm – aka “Windy Hill”.. as it never stops blowing a gale around this stretch!

And of course.. if you have a garden that backs onto the canal – but you don’t want to moor bank-side on – why not make your own little marina!Through past Rose Narrowboats once more – with more rain!  And down past what is marked on the map as an “unstable Cutting”..  yea.. just a bit!

And those big orange drums that were marking fallen tree’s on the other side have gone..   Oh.. There they are – in a CRT work boat now they are no longer needed!

The 14 day moorings here are always full – not sure why, there are no shops or anything near by – that I know of..

Through past Hungerfield – I presume they have permission to be moored by that bridge (in the distance), as that boat never moves – every time through here its there..

On approach to Brinklow Marina, and CRT have been busy – the banks have finally been cut back – and I have a coffee delivery inbound!

On past Armada boats, and they have had a shuffle.. the 2 boats on the residential mooring have been moved to the other end of the services dock – possibly as there having work done..

And onto the mooring in Rugby. Trevor has long gone after getting his solar panels fitted – and the space he was using is there – so that will do us nicely.
