Time to keep going.. a quiet night, and a good spot to remember.. if we were able to, this would be a good spot to stay for a while.. but we need to be off..
And.. here’s a rare shot.. A selfie.. not like me to so self photos.. I keep photographing the boat, surroundings – but there’s never anything of the one behind the camera!
Onward and past East Midlands Boat Services.. lots of moorings here.. with some good locations – but I don’t think I would like to be permanently moored on a river.. especially one that is referred to as “All you have to do is spit in the river and it rises a foot!” 😉
This was a strange one to see – a lumberjack on a wire! I dont think they need a crane with that load capacity just for his weight.. its for the tree he’s chopping down.. tie the top of to the crane.. cut and hoist down.. saves it dropping through the roof!
Then through Kegworth Deep/New Lock.. there is a nice horseshoe weir on this one..
On through past Kegworth Shallow Flood Lock which was open and past Kegworth Marine.. cheap diesel for cash only.. but today – there closed so none for me!
Up to Radcliffe Lock which used to be a pair of locks.. with one now filled in..
There was a pair of boats following us.. and as I wanted a coffee.. let them through the lock before us.. Its such a nice day.. shorts all round (but not for me!)
Got to Redhill Lock to find the navigation lights on Red.. so this is as far as we go today. With luck, it will be green tomorrow.. but for now.. were enjoying the sun after getting the boat on the end of the mooring (if you can call it a mooring.. for one night it will do.. but considering all the concrete and posts have collapsed into the river – not the best!)
From here.. All the mouses I can survey.. where is my prey!
Even the Luna-tic is out.. but not far as she’s on a leash!
