Bridge 88, Eaglestone to Stoke Bruerne Top Lock

by Keith August 9, 2020 No Comments

After the shorter run yesterday, a long one for today..   hopefully the weather will be nice to us!

Looks like there has been a service at some stage along this stretch..

Past Gulliver’s Land once more..  I really want to get chance to stop here – even if its just once! – And yes..  there is mooring we could use to pull in and go there! (Even though they don’t advertise there presence to boaters!)

Past a rather interesting narrow boat…    Steering from the front (with a wheel)..   twin engine (or at least two rudders).. and the option of using the traditional tillers if needed (in case the hydraulic steering fails)

Past the Almshouses, Great Linford

On past Castlethorpe (in the distance, far right)

Through Cosgrove Lock, and upto Stoke Bruerne Flight of locks.

We pulled in at the water point before going up the locks, not for water, just to have a break for a mo whilst the kids got the lock ready!

Just as we were getting set – pulled out and into the lock – spotted a boat coming up fast to join us..     Phew..   made it without someone pulling put and nicking the spot this time! 🙂

7 locks later, sharing the load as we went – as it’s always easier with 2 boats – we managed to both get pulled in at a mooring above the top lock.  Dont want to go through the tunnel yet – we can do that tomorrow – for tonight, time to let the cats out!
