Ashby Canal , Coventry Canal

Nuneaton to Hinckley

by Keith October 30, 2018 No Comments

Time to move on from Nuneaton..   Quick run to the Sainsbury’s to get some supplies in for the next few days, as we plan to move onto the Ashby canal and upto Hinckley where the cars booked for the weekend and next week, and as there is not a lot on the Ashby within walking distance, we need to stock up until we have a car to get a big shop in.

Stopped of at Star Line Boats to get some more coal as we only have 1/2 a bag left..   and onto Marston Junction and the Ashby canal..

Must remember to make sure we get off the Ashby again and back onto the Coventry by the end of November, or we will be stuck here for 3 months whilst they tear down and re-build Bramcote road bridge..  and we don’t want that!

Not many boats moving, only 3 coming past, and non with us..  so looks like were into Winter traffic now..

Eventually we get through into Hinckley (after stopping off just outside to top of the water tank)..

Moored up, almost on a bend, but just off it to be safe, next to a new housing estate.. so there is somewhere to park the car, and armco to chain upto.   Looks like were set now for a week or so, until we move off again, possibly to get to the end and turn around again, but that’s a fir few hours away, so we may not get to the end of the canal in this run.
