After the wind and rain yesterday, its a calm day today – yes, it does mean were looking at rain when were on the Thames, but with luck, we can get to Brentford today with very little rain or wind.
As we set off we were waved off by the local greeting party 🙂
Onward, through Denham Deep Lock, and yea, with a 10’6″ drop, its a deep one!
And it’s so nice coming out of a lock to find boats on the lock landing!
Through New Denham
Past the Uxbridge Long term mooring, and past a “CC” sized boat 😀
And the Uxbridge Boat Centre.. I presume they know I’m coming out from the bridge as that boat doesn’t look right to me!
Just as I get there, they pull in in a bit more, and as I go past, get the straps into position..
I suppose, if you own Ducks on a canal.. you need these!
And time for a tank of water at the Malt Shovel.. you may remember this place from a previous post back in April of 2018! ( here ).. but no one here today, maybe too early, but more likely to cold!
Now, whilst we were waiting at the lock, these two were having a bit of a barney!
A quick stop at Tesco’s.. and onward past West Drayton train station.
And through Hillingdon and Hayes..
And past the Paddington Arm entrance.. not going that way today..
Good job we got water already.. no room at that tap!
And.. past the spot of the boat fire from 2018.. No boats, so the wreck has been removed..
And these interesting boats are still here, even if they look a little more unkept that they were, there still good!
On through 3 bridges.. Why is it called 3 bridges you say.. well.. it’s another Brunel masterpiece. You can see the road bridge.. and the canal we just came through.. what you cant see from here, is that’s an aqueduct.. and under both of those is a railway line.. hence.. 3 bridges..
And after a few short sharp rain showers through the day.. is it me.. or are the clouds now smiling ?
Down and through Hanwell Lock Flight.. through 2 more locks and onto tonight’s mooring which is an hour away from Thames Lock that we are booked in for. 10:45 tomorrow, we should be exiting the Lock and out on the Thames!
So – Banbury to Brentford (the long way round!) – It’s taken 15 days, 113 miles and 118 locks.. but were here, and a good run it was…. shame I have work on Monday – but there you go! 😀
