Set off this morning from the other side of the bridge.. leaving the burnt out boat behind us.. so heartbreaking looking at what’s left..
The owners of the wide-beam came by just before we left and thanked us for moving the boat away from the burning fire – as they were 5 year live-aboards and yes – that’s their home also..
Arrived at the water point before the first lock.. found that our combination of 2 stretchy hoses would not reach.. and one was split.. awesome! Wandered down the line of moored boats and found one that was being worked on.. asked if I could borrow their hose, which with the remaining stretchy hose reached the tank and allowed us to full up with water.
After filling up.. it was a nice run down the Hanwell flight today with Andrew and Julie from “Mariner II” – who, thankfully will be going out on the Thames tomorrow as well.. so there is someone I can shadow with on our first run onto the Thames.
There are still some swans nesting also..
Eventually got down to the Brentford basin to moor up for the night.. There was no room for us bankside.. but Mariner II managed to get in, and were kind enough to offer that we moor up next to them – so were doubled up and waiting for 9am tomorrow and setting off for the Thames.
And Tabitha likes it here :
