Goring Lock Moorings to Abingdon-on-Thames

by Keith September 2, 2021 No Comments

The usual bumpy night that I expected didn’t occur due to the high concrete wall were against – so that was nice! And with one last trip to the shop to get some basics done – time to move on again.

Celeste and I are taking turns at the helm again today…

Plenty of people about – but not a lot of boats moving today!

And, Just as we got to Day’s lock..   overflown by a DC-3 sporting military colours..   so could be a Skytrain!   Looks like it just came out of RAF Benson..   I got the best photo I could considering it was gone by the time I got the camera! ( And the sun and not being able to focus correctly didnt help!)

And it was followed by a spitfire and a hurricane flying in formation ( The Spitfire’s elliptical wing gives it away, and the other didn’t have that – so presuming a hurricane)- which I didn’t get chance to photograph as we were in the lock at the time 🙁

But..  it’s a relaxing day for all, and some are happy to just sleep the day away with a breeze in their nose!

It’s also starting to get a little narrow in places, certainly where there is a lock-cut to navigate..

But there are still the usual boats moored along the banks..

But, were in Abingdon-on-Thames with time still to relax, and a few mooring spaces, so its been a good day in all.
