The lock is Fixed ! Well done to CRT and the Rothen Group for pulling out all the stops and getting that lock repaired. I don’t know what the bill would look like for that job.. but it wont be pennies!
So that’s it.. were off! Firstly, Greenham Lock.. no issues there.. and onto Ham Lock. This one is on a bend with a weir just before it so the lock landing is a little way back from the lock round the corner – which seems to be taking ages for the kids to get it ready… but, eventually the boat coming up is out, and were going in.
And.. I suspect this one may be on the winter maintenance list for 2021!
A few more locks and Cranwells Swing Bridge..
And down through Old Heale’s Lock..
And I still dont see how anyone with a wide-beam is happy getting through the middle of this lot!
Down through Monkey Marsh lock..
Boats are far and few between now.. but it’s still a nice section of canal here!
And onto Aldermaston water point. There is a 4 hr mooring spot here just off the main water point, so that’s where we stopping for tonight – as by the time our 4hrs are up, it will be dark! With a tap “on tap” I can make sure the tank is full again before moving off tomorrow.
At least it was a 4hr spot.. they have changed the signs, and removed the 4hr bit.. ( the photo below is from google maps – and shows those 4hr signs! ) but were stopping anyway.
