Another Services Run – slowly getting ready to move off!

by Keith May 26, 2020 No Comments

Some back-dated updates for this one!

Whilst we had the car, and were forced to keep the car over the weekend as I was unaware that Enterprise no longer open on Saturdays during this time..  so we could not return it on the Sat as planned, so we did the usual “collect the post” run at the weekend..  and included in this batch was a surprise for the kids!

Ahh..   peace and quiet for an hour or so!

However:   It looks like the only thing still to come out of China that can last over a week is the Coronavirus!      It may not last much longer..   so we have had to arrange for it to go back and get replaced..

But for now..  it seems to be holding…

Its time for another services run – which was done last Thursday ( 21st) – and what a lovely day it is for a run..   with the lockdown eased, and movements allowed – I was expecting to see some boats moving – but no..  just the scenery..

The usual turn around at the locks – with a few spectators today – families out enjoying the sun..    as well as some interesting paint designs on boats…   I suppose that makes it a “dragon boat” ?

Hopefully, CRT’s vegetation team will be out and about once more, to cut back some of the overgrowth..

Pulled into Armada’s once more – doubled up once more 🙂  Got the diesel done and the toilet tank emptied and we were off again to turn at the entrance to Brinklow marina, and back past Armada’s again – with a nice freshly painted crane – ready for the next 20 years!

And its stop in Newbold for a shady Thursday afternoon and into the evening.

With a photo of Kizzy, Tabitha, Shaemus and Tiggy all in the one shot escaping after a day of being locked in the boat!

It was not an un-eventful evening though..   at some stage Celeste managed to lose my Debit card somewhere between Fishsmiths and the boat 🙁   So..  that’s a new bank card needed for me now – and another trip down south to collect it as it needs to be sent to the postage address!   Oh well.

CRT have stated that on Saturday, the 14 day limit on staying still will come back into force..  so I expect that things will start to get busier again on the canals!

Come Friday – It’s back to Rugby.. just a quick jaunt that I didn’t get a GPS track for – and as expected, the spot we were using has been taken by another boat which moved from the 24 hour spots to where we were on the 14 day stretch – so they could stay put a little longer – so its a little further round the corner for us.

For us – were not sure, I think we should be OK staying for another week or so here, and move on towards Nuneaton once June arrives..  from there – who knows!
