East Street Moorings (Oxford) to Roundham Lock, Kidlington (14 Day Mooring)

by Keith September 4, 2021 No Comments

Last nights “Kebopoly” (Kebab and Monopoly! 😀 ) went well even though we didn’t finish it, so it will be continued tonight (minus the kebab though!)

First off..   a wander to the shops to get some high-ball glasses for Anna’s candles which are needed for the fair next weekend..   and on the way back.. stop to watch a cabin cruiser approach the low bridge and then back off and spin round when they realise there about to rip the upper part of the boat off!

No such panic’s for us..  I know the boat will clear the bridge.. it’s the plants..  and there going to be at risk the whole day – not only this bridge, the next railway bridge, and then once on the Oxford canal..  the tree’s are NEVER cut back, so there is a risk we could end up with NO plants left – but, we need water, and the best water point to use is on the canal.. so we need to turn on at the start – not do our usual and go in via Dukes cut..

Under the two bridges and onto the lock OK – plants still there!

You know when I mentioned those overhanging trees…

Still got the plants though…   and time for water and rubbish to get rid of!

Once through Dukes cut junction – normally we would come in (and go out) to the Thames on the right..  but this time, we came in from the left…

A few more locks down.. and were onto the mooring for the next week or so.   Time to stretch the water we have!
