Services Run to Cropredy

by Keith October 2, 2021 No Comments

It had to rain today..   yesterday, reasonably fine..  tomorrow..  reasonably fine..  today..  it’s persisting it down!   But, we have to move today as we need diesel, a pump out, gas and water..   and we need to be back at Hennef Way on Sunday as I have a van Monday and Tuesday.

As you probably guessed, no GPS track today..   no photo’s today..   as its raining. Plenty of soggy crew though!

It was a fairly easy run with a few bits..   we nearly lost the Sun catcher from the bow due to a tree..   and we passed a dead swan. Tomorrow I will see if we can find it and possibly retrieve it – not because Anna would love a few feathers..  but because I need to give DEFRA a shout so they can collect it and check it died of natural or accidental causes.

The same usual boats are on this stretch as they were 6 months ago, but there are a lot more holiday boats on the move. Also – a residential mooring popped up in Aylesbury…  but I don’t think were ready to call it a day on our cruising just yet, plus £5k a year for mooring + council tax (yes, if you have a residential mooring, you get the joy of Band 1 Council tax to pay for also) – is a bit outside of our price band at the moment!

Winter movement planning is under-way..  but there are a lot of stoppages this time round – so we may be forced to winter moor in Banbury.. Not sure yet..

So, it’s a quick one today.. tomorrow back to Banbury..  and all from me for now.
