Berkhampstead to Boxmoor Top Lock (Hemel Hempstead) (Day #11)

by Keith May 18, 2021 No Comments

First job – post office..  and some supplies.    Post office was done – not so much on the supply front, ah well..

First lock done, and just as we left, another boat arrived, so we said we would wait at the next lock for them so we could both use the same lock of water, and having 2 boats, and 2 crews running the locks will make all the difference to today!

So that’s what we did – down through Berkhamsted, where we got to last year, before turning around due to the failed lock..   not today though..

Some interesting things on the canal..

And..

Still going through the locks with various team members walking between, whilst we chug along with the boats..

More geese with babies..   more of those to come later 😀

The other boat pulled in for lunch, so were on our own now for a while.. And it’s now my turn to walk and do the locks, with Celeste driving..

Through the swing bridge..   and Celeste wants to walk for a while – but..   something has other ideas…  😀 😀

( it took 10 minutes to get from the bridge 😀 )

And it looks like our TESCO delivery may be ready to pick up soon…  😀

Nice garden with your own little creek fed by the canal..

And I don’t like the look of those clouds..   after yesterdays thunderstorms and rain..   not today..  were stopping for the night.   Looking at the map, we should have a few more 7-ish hour days to still make it onto the Thames on Saturday.
