Lock 28 (Lower Cain Hill Flight) to The Black Horse Inn (Lock 47/48)

by Keith July 9, 2018 No Comments

What at twat!

Came out of the boat at 8am – as that’s when the locks are opened and we can start the trip up the flight. The guy that agreed to share the locks up the flight has already gone.. on his own and is already 3 locks up.  Now – why is he a twat..

  1. He’s on his own. We agreed to go up together so that we can share the strain.. and the kids can help and he doesn’t have to do everything on his own..
  2. Being on his own it’s going to take him twice as long..
  3. All  the locks we need to use are now FULL.. And we need to empty them before we can open the gates and move in to fill them again.
  4. He’s a twat – simple as that!

So..  We set off and got 3 locks up. Spotted that the boat we met yesterday got to the bottom of the flight.  So we stayed put and waited for them to catch us up. Then spend a pleasant 4 hours travelling the flight with 10 of us running the locks and swapping teams every other lock. Even the lock keeper stated the guy that set off on his own is a plank – who we caught up to..

Eventually we got to the top and pulled in at the The Black Horse Inn for a meal and a pint or two..    And twat is moored here as well..    Didn’t speak.. didn’t say anything..  Just laughed at him downing a pint..  you may not have needed that so badly if you had waited 10 minutes..  twat!

( PS.. No photos for this one..  Was busy doing locks! )
