The Battlefield Line on Armistice Day

by Keith November 11, 2018 No Comments

It’s a day out for armistice day this year..    to the Battlefield line to see and travel on a working steam train.

The line only runs between Shackerstone, through Market Bosworth and to Shenton, but its good to see working steam trains.

They also do “poirot” days..  but no more of those are available this year..

Pulling into the station

Taking on water before the run out
A family shot – without CC hiding for once..
Arrived at Shenton.. turning the engine round..

Hooked up, ready for the run back – engine drivers loaded up with potatoes.. ready to put in the fire box!

Not sure if this will work.. spotted the silhouette of the train against the fields..
Time for a slice of cake in the tea room before we go back to the boat

Well..  all in all, an interesting day out and we got some goodies from the shop.

Moving on again soon, heading back the way we came to Coventry..   Anna has a few weekends away in November and December.. so need to schedule trips in with car availability..

More soon 🙂
